- Do not rush your reading. Allow yourself to take time with the words.
- Remember that God’s people have been using these same words for more than 2,000 years.
Focus questions: (These are for you to reflect upon after you’ve read the Psalm(s) for the day and/or time.)
- What is the mood of the psalm or the psalmist? Have you ever felt that way? When? Let yourself remember.
- What word or phrase caught your ear or heart? Why did that speak to you?
- What is God’s word for you today, contained in the psalm you just read?
- What does that word ask you to do?
Bible Passages for Reading during Lent
These readings include Old Testament (Genesis), an Epistle (two of St. Paul’s letters, in this case, 1st Corinthians and on February 28 a passage from Romans) and gospel (Mark or John). The first number (on the left side of the :) indicates which chapter to look for, and the second set of numbers indicates where to start and stop. Each day of Lent has a particular reading assigned to it.
